Sheeba Jefferson is the nurse director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for cardiac, renal and vascular services. She initially came to Sheffield from South India in 2001 to work as a nurse in the NHS. She was at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for 14 years, before moving to work in Leeds as a matron, and then returning to Sheffield as deputy nurse director in 2020.
Ms Jefferson has completed a master’s and has also completed various postgraduate diplomas and certificates in clinical audit, leadership and management, and has led on various change management and quality improvement initiatives. She also completed the Inspiring improvement Fellowship from the Foundation of Nursing Studies, which further enhanced her skills and knowledge in creating and establishing caring cultures in various work environments. Most recently, she completed the Aspiring Director of Nursing programme and the Leadership programme for Overseas Nurses provided by the Florence Nightingale Foundation.
Her day-to-day values are about helping people and showing kindness in everything she does.
Ms Jefferson is proud to have built her career in the NHS and to be a role model for other nurses. She is north east England executive lead for the British Indian Nurses Association and is also a member of the trust’s Race, Equality & Inclusion staff network, and is involved with NHS England’s work to help support more ethnic minority staff to develop NHS careers and become senior leaders.
