Sally Wilson
Professional lead for older people and dementia
RCN
Ms Wilson is a registered nurse in learning disabilities who has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including community nursing, nursing homes, respite and acute care. These opportunities have enabled her to work across the lifespan, working with children who have life-limiting conditions, learning disabilities and autism, to working with older adults with dementia providing end of life care and support.
While working as an acute liaison nurse for people with learning disabilities, she became aware of the health disparities in acute systems. She went on to be employed as a matron for vulnerable patients and safeguarding adults lead in a district and general hospital for eight years before taking a professional lead role with the Royal College of Nursing.
