Ross Sheridan
Learning disability practitioner
Alder Hey Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Ross Sheridan trained at Edge Hill University and has an MSc in learning disability nursing. He started his career by working at a nursing home after finishing a BSc in pharmacology at the University of Liverpool.
He had many amazing opportunities during his training, including a trip to China that opened his eyes to a different nursing culture. He also visited India with his colleague Dr Antoinette Bewley to see how nursing students go through their training and to see their healthcare practices. There, he shared his knowledge of stress management and positive behaviour support techniques.
He has worked for Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust as a staff nurse on the inpatient CAMHS unit, and then moving to become a community learning disability practitioner – working closely with families and schools to achieve the goals the family and children want.
He is currently working at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust in the integrated care team as a care co-ordinator.
Ross Sheridan is speaking at the following session on Wednesday 23 October
From working on the frontline of care to receiving care: a personal story of managing change and stress
