Liavel Vargas is a registered adult nurse with experience in emergency medicine, cardiology, and neuro theatres. Starting as a cadet nurse in Lincoln, she completed her nursing studies at the University of Nottingham in 2011. Her dedication to education and leadership led her to become a preceptorship support nurse in 2014, and she now serves as a senior nurse for practice education. In 2019, she became a Health Education England – East Midlands professional fellow, leading a project on career development and nurse retention in Nottinghamshire. She contributed to national digital initiatives and promoted nursing to the younger generation through local schools and social media as part of the NursingNow campaign. In 2023, she completed the NHS England (Midlands) Developing Aspirant Leaders programme and earned a post-graduate diploma in medical education. As an immigrant from the Philippines, she is committed to inclusive leadership and supporting global majority staff, advocating for robust education and support for newly registered nurses.
