Leanne Pero MBE is an award-winning social entrepreneur, speaker, author, host and breast cancer survivor. She set up her dance company, The Movement Factory, when she was just 15 years old, since then she has successfully fundraised over £500,000 to run community dance programmes for young people all over London and is an official Nike London Partner.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 at the age of 30, Leanne set up her namesake charity, which includes the Black Women Rising Cancer Support programme. The programme won the National Lottery Award for health in 2021 and now helps more than 500 women of colour in the UK who have had a cancer diagnosis.
Leanne has been featured by many media outlets such as the Telegraph, Marie Claire, the Voice, South London Press, the Express, the Sun, Metro and Guardian newspapers. She is also a regular voice on Sky News, Channel 4 News, BBC News and is annually featured on the Lorraine Show as part of its change and check awareness segment in breast cancer awareness month.
Leanne was awarded an MBE in the first King’s honours list in June 2023.
