Joanne Bosanquet MBE
Chief executive officer, The Foundation of Nursing Studies
For over 35 years, Joanne has developed a solid system-wide, dynamic approach to her leadership and has held various positions at individual, community, and population levels. Joanne moved from Government into the charity sector to lead the Foundation of Nursing Studies (FoNS) in 2019.
FoNS is a UK based charity which positions itself between research and practice. It works with health and care professionals and their teams to establish person-centred practice and healthful workplace cultures, which in turn impacts on the care experience, recruitment, retention and staff wellbeing. Their work is underpinned by theoretical frameworks in person-centred practice and the team facilitates participatory, experiential learning opportunities.
Joanneās personal focus is integrated health and care systems along with how nurses, midwives and partners can influence the quality of life for those in their care, fellow citizens and communities through compassionate, person-centred leadership. At this macro level, Joanne believes there is an opportunity for nursing and midwifery to position itself across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This is ambitious but achievable if all actors work together around a shared purpose of a fairer world and a reduction of inequalities.
