Gloria Sikapite

Registered nurse/master of research in health and social care, University of Hertfordshire (Masters Student)

Gloria’s first post was as a research nurse within the MST research team, later joining the oncology research team at East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust.

While there, she completed a secondment as a Chief Nurse Junior Fellow supporting The MAGNET4EUROPE study, supported senior nurse leaders in Public and Patient Involvement Group (PPI).

Gloria has co-chaired and chaired the Research Professional Shared Decision-Making Council for 26 months and worked on embedding research into practice by delivering a “research tab” on the Electronic Patient Record System (Nervecentre) to identify clinical trial patients when admitted into hospital to aid adverse event (SAE/ A.E) reporting to meet the future need of the department’s transition into digital patient identification and reporting of AEs .

She was winner of the RCN Foundation Leathersellers’ Impact Award 2024 for outstanding achievement in pre – registration nursing studies. She was later recognised in the University of Hertfordshire Vice- Chancellor’s Award 2025 (Highly Commended) for her exceptional commitment to nursing, her leadership and her efforts as an alumni ambassador for the University.

She holds other roles such as with the Florence Nightingale SEG member in early Careers and Policy workstreams, speak up champion at her Trust. She has written an opinion piece for the Nursing times, featured in a leadership book and has been interviewed as on SKY news channel.

She is currently pursuing a Master of Research in Health and Social Care.
