Carol-Anne Murphy

After registering as a nurse in 1986, Carol-Anne Murphy began working for child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS). She stayed there until her retirement in 2019, apart from one year in which she worked with children who have disabilities. Since qualifying, she climbed the nursing ladder to become a nurse consultant and has worked in some excellent multidisciplinary teams. Ms Murphy says she has learned from experience as well as increasing her academic qualifications.
Since retiring, she continues to work part-time in her nurse consultant role and is passionate about providing a quality service and engaging with children, young people and their families. She feels privileged to have been chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ quality network for community CAMHS and deputy chair of its accreditation committee.
