Alexandra Langstaff trained in adult nursing at the University of Manchester and undertook a master’s in specialist practice – cancer. She is a ward manager for head and neck, brachytherapy and molecular radiation at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. She regularly manages care for people with severe symptoms as a result of radiation. She completed a research project during 2022 on prophylactic use of photobiomodulation. In 2023 she received the Green Team award from the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare and was a finalist in the RCN Nursing Awards for greener nursing practice. In 2024 she was named Sustainability Nurse of the Year by the British Journal of Nursing.
